Rod Cousin Restoration Pictures

Owners Description-Car was bought 6 months ago from an 86 year old gentleman, who was a lovely bloke. The Grandville had been imported into Australia RHD from brand new and had spent most of its life in a garage just doing the odd run to get some groceries. I bought the car in generally good condition.

Over the years someone had put another coat of paint on the lower panels to cover up stone chips but they had not done a very good job of matching the original paint color. They had also re-painted the bonnet and boot but both had cracked like crows feet over time. Plenty of small dents and panel ripples over the car. Interior was in excellent original condition and the vinyl roof was good also, so the decision was made to leave it on. I pulled off the protection strips on the side of the car and had the rear bumper & over riders rechromed. All trims, handles, badges and locks were all taken off which is a big job in it's self.  Car was then rubbed right back with wet and dry and the bonnet/boot both paint stripped to remove all cracked paintwork.  Most of the panel ripples and small dents were able to be removed with wet and dry but a few had to done with body filler as they were too deep.

Car was then given 4 coats of 2 pak primer followed bye a guide coat and once again gone over with wet and dry. (Hands becoming very sore bye this stage) 2 coats of 2 pak base coat and then the 2 pak clear coat. Finally to reassemble the beast. Thanks to a great mate Jeremy who gave lots of professional advice and help.
